Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is currently looking to recruit more volunteer helpers for its day centre in Hollinswood.
Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: “Our day centres can be a lifeline for many older people, especially those who live in relative isolation. Social interaction, a hot meal, interesting activities and outings are all provided by volunteers, who make a real difference to the lives of older people.
“Our day centre at Hollinswood Community Centre takes place on Fridays from 10am to about 2.30pm and is in urgent need of more helpers so that it can re-open to members following the Covid pandemic. Volunteers are needed from about 9.30am to set up the room, welcome members, make and serve drinks, serve lunch and organise activities. If you can spare a few hours a week and would like to get involved we would be delighted to hear from you.”
The charity operates 38 day centres throughout Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, open weekly from 10am to 2.30pm. If you are considering volunteering and would like more information or to visit the day centre before you decide, please contact Janice Williams on 01743 233 123.
Training and support will be provided by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, and agreed out of pocket expenses are paid.
